Ingredients:
– 2 cups Agri Commodities basmati rice
– 4 cups water
– 1 tsp salt
– 1 tbsp ghee or oil (optional)
– 2 green cardamoms (optional, for aroma)
– 1 small cinnamon stick (optional, for aroma)
– 3–4 cloves (optional, for aroma)
– 1 bay leaf (optional, for aroma)
Preparation:
– Rinse the rice in cold water 2–3 times until the water runs clear.
– Soak the rice for 20–30 minutes, then drain.
– In a heavy-bottomed pot, bring 4 cups of water to a boil with the salt and ghee.
– Add the whole spices (cardamoms, cinnamon, cloves, bay leaf) if using, for a light aromatic finish.
– Add the drained rice to the boiling water and give it one gentle stir.
– Lower the heat to minimum, cover the pot tightly with a lid, and let it cook undisturbed for 12 minutes.
– Turn off the heat and leave the pot covered for another 10 minutes to let the grains finish steaming.
– Fluff the rice gently with a fork before serving.
– Serves 4–5 people. A 100 g serving of cooked Agri Commodities basmati rice provides approximately 130 kcal — a naturally gluten-free and low-fat source of complex carbohydrates.
